Welcome to Beacon Way Therapy

"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change." — Carl Rogers

About me

Hello, I am Patricia, I'm an integrative psychotherapist and counsellor.

I offer a safe, nurturing, healing space where you will feel seen and heard.

At times, life can be difficult and confusing, which can cause us to become stuck in ways of thinking and behaving. Having a professional to help you recognise and understand these patterns can enable you to gain a better understanding and new perspectives, in order to make positive changes in your life and to find your own way forward.

The relationship between the counsellor and the client is at the heart of my approach. Finding the right counsellor for you is important. It is not easy to open up and put your trust in a stranger, but I will do my best to reassure you as you take those first steps. I work holistically, gently supporting you whilst you learn to reconnect with and honour your emotional and physical needs.

I provide a free 15 minute consultation, so we can meet, discuss what you are looking for from counselling and decide whether we might work well together. All my sessions take place via a secure online platform or by telephone, therefore allowing me to work with you wherever you are in the country.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and abide by their code of ethics. I offer a safe, confidential space to talk. I believe this to be the place from where solid, therapeutic and lasting change is developed.

I am also affiliated with Alternatives in Watford, a pregnancy crisis and support centre. In my role as a counsellor, I offer emotional and practical support for anyone experiencing pregnancy-related challenges and perinatal mental health.

Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions at all.

Experience

I work with adults from a variety of backgrounds. My previous experience includes counselling roles within a range of settings: a general counselling service and trauma support services, where I have helped clients overcome anxiety and depression; confidence and self-esteem issues; bereavement; miscarriage, stillbirth and infertility; relationship or family problems; coercive control; life transitions etc.

As an integrative psychotherapist and counsellor based in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, my work is informed by the three main psychotherapeutic approaches - Person-centred, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural. I adapt my work to suit the needs of each client and integrate suitable interventions to work with whatever the client is presenting. My role is to help clients find clarity and inner peace through non-judgmental, empathic listening combined with the use of therapeutic tools and techniques.
